About Jim Squire
It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you, my passion for helping others drives my practice and permeates all my work. My primary focus is to create safe space where you can share your story. I have been helping people make changes, overcome challenges and achieve their true potential for over twelve years. I have successfully worked with people from a wide range of ethnicities, socio-economic situations, cultural and religious backgrounds. I believe my greatest asset is my ability is to empathize with people, enter into their world and help them feel valued and accepted.
My journey to acquire the skills to help others started with my own life crisis many years ago and through that transition I discovered a meaningfulness that had previously eluded me. With a new passion for life I sought to embrace my true calling to help others in their life journey. That goal led to a return to school for 12 years where I earned a MDiv. majoring in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University and Seminary, a BA in Psychology from Laurentian University and a specialized Addiction Diploma from McMaster University. In addition to my formal education I have extensive training in addictions, trauma, mental health issues, grief, family dynamics and relationship issues.
Over the years I been worked with a number of organizations including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto East General Hospital, Transition House , Peoples Church and the Salvation Army. I am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), in addition I am a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and OACCPP.
