What is Emotional Intelligence? Emotional intelligence (EQ) is defined as the ability to identify, assess, and manage one’s own emotions as well as those of others. It involves understanding your own feelings and those of others, empathy for the feelings of others, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management. All these abilities are necessary for effective communication between people and understanding their needs.

Next practice recognizing other people's feelings without judgment; try to put yourself in their shoes before responding or reacting so that you can see things from their perspective first. Finally work on developing healthy relationships with those around you; practice active listening techniques like repeating back what someone has said so that you fully understand them before responding with empathy towards their situation or point of view.
